Organizations understand more now than ever, the value of having flexible, scalable, and cost-effective computing power in the cloud. Reducing IT costs, accelerating innovation and security are just a few of the compelling reasons why they embark on a cloud migration journey. Episode 125: The Mental Game

Tuesday Nov 29, 2022

Tuesday Nov 29, 2022

What does the expression ‘game within the game’ mean? How does this apply to both athletes and business professionals alike? It is about making improvements in areas or aspects of their performance outside of the ‘playing field’. It is also about improving and strengthening the mind, as mindset is everything and what often sets apart the best performers. We are thrilled to have a sports psychologist speak to the importance of winning the mental game. Jason Galea is a sports psychologist and the Co-Founder of HeadSet, an on-line sports psychology program for athletes and coaches. He is also the executive director of San Diego Saints, a non-profit Hockey Club that provides youth and adolescents with the opportunity to learn incredible skills and life lessons built around the sport of hockey. The design of his work with the HeadSet mental training tool, is to provide a customized plan for enhancing an athlete’s level of mental skill and ability, with the goal of achieving peak performance and confidence. Something that he learned from his mother that is often shared with his clients, which is, ‘you are stronger than you know’. This along with an acceptance of how authentically special you are, will enable you to become centered and to figure out the ‘how’, which will lead to greater success. We also talk about journaling and using mantras (thank you Navy Seals) or sayings to keep you grounded and focused on your goals. He points out that leaders must have a strong vision that they believe in and that this is something that you have to internally believe is attainable, or it's just a dream. As Jason states, ‘hope without a plan is called a dream… and it aint happening'. One of the most powerful statements he made was, 'what the mind sees, the body believes'. Let’s see it and win the mental game.To learn more about Jason and his work, visit headsetsports.com. Your mindset affects your business and when mastered, can become foundational for incredible success. This is what separates the top sales performers from the pack. We welcome to the program our friend Michael Hammelburger to share what he has learned about having the right mindset for success in sales. Michael is the Founder of Sales Therapy, where he provides training and coaching for professionals looking to improve their selling skills.Michael believes that sales is an art, a learnable skill and one that should be authentic, always willing to do what is in the best interest of their client or prospect. Sell only what they need and want, and not to hit a quota. The difference between high performers and low performers is often a reflection of those who have a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset. We also touch on the importance of setting expectations, receiving a “no” and to receive that quickly. Michael stated that getting a “no” should be considered a success, as this avoids pressure and wasting time. You go from being an opponent, to becoming an ally.
